Re: School Bussing
Dear Mayor Bloomberg:
There is a very simple
solution to safeguarding children on a school bus from the problem
where the driver forgets a child on the bus. I am suggesting that the
driver each time he empties the bus, fill out and complete an affirmed
checklist that states that he has made an examination of all the seats
in a bus.
This checklist should
be either mailed or delivered to the bus company within a half-hour of
its execution.
It is suggested that
the affirmation would read:
“_______ being a licensed bus
driver, (license number ____________ ) duly affirms under penalty of
perjury that before I left the bus, I conducted an examination of each
seat and accounted for each child.”

I hope you find this
suggestion helpful.
Very truly yours,
