People with Disabilities in New York

By October 10, 2005 there will be in force a new law which provides rent relief for people with disabilities. It is a law that works like SCRIE in relation to regulated housing.

The law is called DRIE meaning Disability Rent Increase Exemption.

The law will be administered by the New York City Department of Finance.

The law is complicated and has different financial levels of qualifications than that of SCRIE.

The Department of Finance should be providing applications by October 10, 2005.
